@Hierarchy @candide The devices did not run 24/7, I turned them off e.g. at night and didn't use them every day. The main goal was to use them in outdoor locations without power supply at all.
The solar panel was a XTPower SP36 (not sold anymore, but mine still works great) and I only used the round plug (not the USB) for charging. Not sure about cost efficiency, sorry - I didn't track how much energy it collected/provided in any way. It just worked well enough for me.
