In fact, there were people actually submitting patches for the AX.25 code, and then the next post in the thread was like "oh, hold up, the patch ahead of you to rip everything out was accepted"

@scott good part is that I think nothing is irreversible, so if enough users make enough ruckus it should come back

@scott It's in git. You can always get it back. And the complaint was that people hadn't been responsive previously. This would not be the first code to be removed and then re-added when people step up to maintain it, and the quicker they step up the more likely it is that maintainers will accept that this time it will be proactively maintained and kept up with the rest of the kernel.
