@MacLemon It's a bit of all. I kind of would like to be able to do something like that. In addition up to now I couldn't find a theme that I really like.
But you are right. Most probably its not worth the time.

@dasdom Learning something (new or old) is never a waste of time I‘d say. IF you want to brush up your HTML/CSS a blog is probably not the ideal project. To limit scope, maybe opt for a single purpose page/one-pager instead? Can relate to the Theme conundrum. If you can narrow down candidates, many themes allow for customization without breaking updates from upstream. Well maintained themes are few and far between. (Especially w/o US cloud deps all over and proper accessibility built in.)
