@ltning @histoftech I'm wary of inevitability narratives - but you're right - there is the concept of path dependence¹. The unexamined, entrenched heteronormative and misogynist employment policies were invisible to management. if you'd like to get the TL;DR of Programmed Inequality, I heartily recommend Mar's 40-minute talk on the book at the Oxford Internet Institute².
