i don't like when fedi users do this twitter thing of writing a post that goes "hot take but X is bad actually" and then just not elaborating. like. whose engagement are you trying to farm here exactly

i merely find those posts annoying but i've heard enough folks with scrupulosity OCD complaining about them to know that they're harmful as shit too. because seeing someone say "this thing you do is EVIL and i won't even tell you why" feeds straight into their OCD. you are on fedi and there is no algorithm to win over by farming engagement. either elaborate and explain why you believe something is wrong - or say nothing at all
