@Orb2069 @Madic @jnkrtech are you talking about things like blockchains? If that's the case, many of us saw through that from the very beginning. I don't think I know a single person who thought that was a good idea back in those days when it was hyped in some circles. My feeling is that AI is a different beast here. It is actually useful technology which many are seeing but only time will tell whether it sticks and if so in what form.

@alethenorio @Madic @jnkrtech That's literally the exact same pitch that I heard about blockchains and 'the metaverse': Some of is transparently a scam, but there's a real utility here. Turns out what little utility there was was in service of the worst possible people doing the worst possible shit. My local bike shop had a little joke on the wall [ WE RIP EVERYONE ELSE OFF AND PASS THE SAVINGS ON TO *YOU* ] ... the exact offer that Crypto made, and 'AI' is making now - but seriously.
