We were on San Emigdio Mountain this morning, and really struggling to make contacts, and we have 5 cases where the person that contaced us didn't stay for the second op. So there must be something we're doing wrong, since it's such a clear message in phone modes.
We've tried both plain English and the prosign AS for Stand By, btw.

@W6KME@mastodon.radio sorry I missed y'all from my summit this morning, timing was off. So, most sota folks understand AS, and will stand by for second operator, but I can understand a random person spinning through a band might not know what that means. I didn't know what it meant up until last year! Today, I had a chaser complete our qso, TU 73 . . . . AS AS AS, then passed the key to the second chaser. I think it helps to send a few times, otherwise it could sound like a broken call sign.
