Are you aware that the word meat is also use to describe the fleshy part of an edible plant? How a word is used matters. For Catholics, it is carne, any warm blooded land animal. When using the word, different people mean different things. Catholics are not making scientific statements when talking about meatless Fridays. Scientists are not trying to upset culinary experts who include fleshy edible plants.
