@jasmine Incidentally, testing for a particular gene has actually been cheaper than assessing the shapes of chromosomes for some fifteen years or so now. The former can be done with a mass-produced 'gene chip'; the latter would have required human work until very recently, AI could probably now do it, but what pedocon would trust AI to do their transvestigations?

@jasmine You probably already know this, but FTR, the SRY gene's primary effects aren't even really actuated just by its presence; a wrong length or shape of the promoter regions next to it can render it ineffectual, manifesting as fully female phenotype, with Müllerian ducts and all, but a dormant SRY gene theoretically present and producing false positives in this kind of test.
