rewiring the studio made me think about how we invented BNC, jack and XLR and then we [gestures at everything] I have a jack cable that's older than me, it's in regular use - I'm over fifty, never serviced it, wholly expect it to outlive me. My SM58 is forty years old and I can still club a fascist to death with it and it'll just keep on trucking, it'll probably improve. The design is what? Sixty something, years old? Can you imagine the mountains of waste we wouldn't have if all our stuff lasted out lifetimes? I sure can't because my mind boggles at the prospect. That's just too many garbage mountains and they're all too big.
But who am I kidding, 90% of the microwaves thrown in the garbage in the EU are fully functional but you know, they're not fashionable anymore. The buttons have the wrong colors on them. so, never mind I guess. In Norway everyone remodels the bathrrom and kitchen just before they sell the flat so it'll look nice in the pictures, then the buyer remodels the bathroom and kitchen because they're out of fashion now. You gotta remodel every season these days.
There's too many men, too many people
Making too many remodels
And not much love to go 'round
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?
