In the late 2000s through the mid 2010s, there was much hype about APIs, and big players like Facebook and Twitter offered feature-rich APIs that let you write a full alternate client for the service. And there were such clients specifically for blind people. Then the companies closed those APIs down. Some companies are opening up their services to AI agents, through MCP and/or command-line interfaces. I predict that won't last, for commercial services.
