@JdeBP@mastodonapp.uk Yes! It's not just Warks though, it's the whole country putting off May 1st until Monday. (Jedi takeover?) Except Oxford, where May Morning is always on May 1st whatever day of the week it may fall on.

@ancientsounds@mastodonapp.uk Two of the major forces that have led to Guy Fawkes Night being smeared out into #GuyFawkesFortnight are (a) Diwali, and (b) the desire to have family friendly celebrations, and the accommodation to the working week, that leads to people scheduling things for the nearest weekend rather than on the exact day itself. Looking at all of these events, it seems to me that (b) is also making #MayDay become 1st of May Week. #CoventryCharterhouse has celebrated as late as the 6th in years past, according to what I can find. Next Monday is, of course, a Bank Holiday. https://leicestermuseums.org/Guildhall100th #Leicester #LeicesterGuildhall #MaypoleDancing
