Assuming you won't be using 18650 cells in your badge:
Get some disposable gloves. The stuff is not healthy.Remove the battery holders entirely. You could do that with just spudgering under the battery holder. Don't worry too much about their solder pads, you won't be needing them (also they might very well survive).That should have removed most of the cured epoxy. Use the plastic spudger again to remove any that's left.Use 70% IPA wipes to remove any uncured epoxy.
You can also use the liquid stuff directly but there's a chance you damage the display and/or keyboard (which is fixable).

@Peetz0r thanks, I was able to get most of the epoxy off. I'm out of time today, but after Congress I can get it wired up.
