I haven't watched advertisements for a long time, but I am pretty sure ads for alcohol are completely normal in Germany. Which is of course wrong, it's just that we really like lobbyism here.

There is no EU law forbidding alcohol advertisements. Most EU countries have a mix of local laws and self regulation, and only a few of those fully forbid it.

I believe advertising is allowed after certain hours in most countries. But now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen any ads for alcohol. The only exception maybe the "buy 2 packs of cigarettes and get a beer for free" promotion, because somehow tobacco stores can still openly advertise.
