@tojiro If you don't mind sharing: • are there any ongoing maint. costs associated with them? (do they require a $500 tune-up every couple years? $10k battery replacements costs every decade?) or other issues like insurance costs? • did you purchase outright and thus own them, or are they leased like one of our neighbors whose install-company actually ends up still owning the hardware? (a mixed bag for them, IIUC—the company is responsible for maint costs, but also takes a cut of the monthly payback of power returning to the grid) (I was also going to ask about time-to-break-even-point and total install cost, but saw your follow-up 6-year estimate which, at ~$5k/year savings sounds like the total install-cost was ~$30k)

@gumnos As far as maintenance, the big thing we were told is to try and clean them yearly for optimum output. We'll have to see what the real maintenance cost is going forward, but my understanding is it's expected to be relatively minimal over the ~20yr lifespan of the system. Insurance wasn't ever brought up. And we purchased outright. The installers gave us several options, but all of them ended with us owning the panels.
