@jdw@mathstodon.xyz @pojntfx@mastodon.social Sims could run on anything but Idk about Inzoi, that said from what I read, it would require a dedicated GPU, at least a NVIDIA RTX 4050/3060 or AMD equivalent. If you’re going ethical then one of my favorite companies is Framework, their laptops are completely modular, repairable, and upgradable plus they have great Linux support that said it might not be affordable. If not framework then just get a All-AMD-Laptop(the CPU & GPU are by AMD)…

@jdw @pojntfx maybe tuxedo has something that would work? https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en I've not used them before, but the guy on The Linux Experiment YT channel talks about them a lot.

@jdw I've recently been on a mission to switch to using as much open source software as possible, and found that most computer's UEFI firmware is actually a closed source insecure mess. There is an awesome FOSS alternative called coreboot, but not many support it. The two companies with the most notebooks shipping with coreboot out of the box are Star Labs and System76, between which System76 looks nicer imo. They have a table here documenting which of their products use coreboot here: https://system76.com/support/articles/open-firmware-systems/ So that's the company I'd go with if I were buying a notebook today.
