@sarajw Ah yes, I get you now. I read her point as being about perception rather than physical translation. Post 90s (possibly accelerated in pop culture by Jony Ive's Rams and Bauhaus inspired design at Apple) minimalism has become associated with style, artistry, and luxury, with noisy design the antithesis of that. Those text heavy covers look like cheap mags on the rack at a supermarket. Presumably Vogue has sought to align itself with the aesthetic trends and fashions of this (digital) era.
