@billbennett I believe there is research showing that taking notes by hand improves recall, where typing does not (something about the processing required to condense perhaps).

    @stephen I learned to touch type at the start of my career in 1980... my first editor sent me on a course. It's become so ingrained that I can do it without thinking.... and find it second nature. I compose my thoughts through my fingers. Writing with a pen is so radically different, that it literally changes how I think. One surprising thing is that I make many times more typos on computer keyboards than I ever did on the old manual typewriters we used to have in newsrooms.
