@billbennett Same as in the US. They started raising the top tier tax as a response to the Great Depression (when it was about 25%) until it was over 90% in 1944. It started dropping again in 1964, hitting a low of 28% in 1988. https://www.davemanuel.com/us-income-tax-history.php
