@kate Was the stone lightweight? It looks like pumice. The groove is absolutely man-made, and was probably steel, judging by the iron staining around it. A pumice float for a fish or crab trap?

@catuscay It’s heavier than pumice, although quite small. I think it’s a sinker more than a floater.
