@kate Out of universe visitor here. It is definitely a mueton methyl laser strike droplet vented in the hundreds by a planetary bombardment from a star destroyer. The giveaway is the laser trajectory retains a glassy sheen unlike the rest of the droplet as it cools. But it would have happened long before your planet had a moon.
