@wyatt@soc.megatokyo.moe My dad was fairly hands-off regarding what me and my brothers did on our computers, other than strongly discouraging us from playing World of Warcraft for being notoriously addictive and time-consuming. We didn't chat with strangers and got to see glimpses of the pre-social media/"endless scroll" world: so expecting your kids to move on and read a book, build with LEGO or play outside for the rest of the day was a viable tactic.
