my friend's unemployment payments got paused because she didn't respond to a letter because she was away getting major surgery. then because she missed the letter they were like "you have to come in for an in person appointment" which she couldn't schedule for weeks because again, major surgery. so she's not getting employment for weeks while she also can't get any other kind of gig work because, yup you guessed it, major surgery. means testing is so stupid.

@shauna Fuck shitty employment commissions. They're so quick to scream FRAUD just so they can claw back any money they give to those who are unemployed.

@shauna I'd love to know how much these reviews *cost*, because the CEOs of Maximus, Capita, and Serco are certainly well-compensated. Pound for pound they'd get a better return from assessing tax dodgers.

@shauna An acquaintance of mine had his Universal Credit stopped because he didn't fill in a questionnaire that can only be completed on a computer. He's too unwell to use a computer. That's why he needs #UniversalCredit. Honestly, it feels as if they shake the box from time to time and hope that some claimants just fall out and go away. The human suffering they cause is irrelevant to them.
