I find the process-vs-outcome oriented distinction misleading. There are so many outcomes to consider, and the process always impacts some of the outcomes, and people just disagree on which outcomes matter. Claiming to be outcome oriented is simply claiming that the current processes don't have different outcomes *that we care about*. When I want a timer, I care about accurate timing. I might also care if the outcome includes burning a forest with exploited labor. Or is that "process"?
