@frankelavsky uhhhh a bit in chapters 7 and 11 of my thesis (lea.zone/papers/lea_thesis.pdf) but tbh I didn’t do as much as I wanted to with that. In computer-stuff, I like the work of @isaackarth and @maxkreminski on poetics and narrative of procedural generation, and in instructional and media art like Vera Molnar. In craft/fabrication, I am weirdly obsessed with David Pye, “The Nature and Art of Workmanship.”

@frankelavsky Two of my favorite physical media for introducing the topic of productive surprise in physical craft are tie-dye and [specifically the American interpretation of] raku pottery. I also really like the weaving practice of “network drafting” for this, but it takes a while to set up what that is and why it’s interesting; here’s my favorite of my own talks on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on_sK8KoObo
