Politicians and journalists still active on X for &quot;engagement&quot; or whatever dubious reason (or, to a lesser degree, active on FB) are soaked in deeply warped notions of public opinion on immigration, inequality, LGBTQ issues, etc. Their Overton window misaligns badly with reality #Mastodaoine #Ireland #IrPol #inclusion #research #PublicOpinion

The study is specific to Ireland, but its findings probably apply in a lot of other places as well. We often say that staying on toxic social media platforms like X is not healthy. This data, showing a wide (and growing) gap between progressive public attitudes and regressive political discourse, testifies to that toxicity. #Ireland #research #PublicOpinion #politics

@stancarey@mastodon.ie Very, very rich people are spending very, very large amounts of money on lobbying and political donations to persuade our politicians -- many of whom have no strong convictions of their own and are very persuadable -- what to think. Coincidentally and quite surprisingly, some of those very, very rich people are not very nice. #Corruption #DarkMoney
