A grounded narrative cares about comparisons. In a low-magic world, the fantasy elements you add seem fantastical by comparison. When you spend time in the Shire at the start of LOTR, it makes Frodo's break from his ordinary life have impact. In dark fantasy, acts of genuine kindness are more heroic and courageous. In my worldbuilding, when I take a fantasy element to its logical conclusion, I learn the truths of the people living there that are worth telling. #ttrpg #fantasy #writing
