The value to me in Mastodon is it is/was just like the old web: not corporate, not American defaults. Not chasing go-fast for the sake of growth or whatever. It is/was people doing things because it was the right thing to do, and fun. I loath seeing corporate language and ideology invade these spaces. I've seen what it leads to.
