Marathon has been the first upsidedown hypecycle I have ever experienced. Negative hype where everyone expected it to suck. Terrible engagement numbers thanks to the negative hype. The majority of the coverage is a “death watch” due to the disappointing concurrent player numbers. Most people that actually have chosen to play it, like it a lot.

I hate it when this happens because then it opens up in your mind that there’s always a possibility everyone else is wrong and it’s actually good, just give it a chance. …I liked 2011’s The Thing. It wasn’t flawless, but it was pretty good imo. Now I suffer through other movies everyone else said was bad… and they are indeed bad. Date Night? Jurassic World? Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City? All those moments, lost, like shitty movies in the rain.

I always figured Marathon would end up good. Bungie excels at the shooting part of video games. Looter-shooters are almost all shooting.
