@justvanrossum @frankrolf @mathieureguer Obviously, such a sophisticated parser needs to understand the possible inclusions and limits of an Indic cluster, and be able to reverse the glyph output ordering of an Indic shaping engine. There are very likely some ambiguous sequences that have not occurred to me yet.
