@frankreiff @sinbad I think it's fair to say that humans are *sometimes* like that, but LLMs are *always* like that.

@chaucerburnt @frankreiff and a human can learn from that experience and won’t do it again whilst tomorrow the LLM will be just as likely to do the same thing again

@chaucerburnt @sinbad You’d think that but research on split brain patients (both hemispheres have been surgically severed) by Gazzaniga strongly suggests that ALL human explanations work that way. Look up “split brain rationalization”. Christof Koch is a leading researcher into the neural basis of consciousness and the deeper you get into his research (try Then I myself am the World), the more obvious the similarities to LLMs become. For more fun look up “Libet experiment”.
