@chaucerburnt sure, but you don’t need to define thought to know that a language model, which strictly models language and does not model any of the things a language might be used to express, does not model any kind of thought

@ShadSterling see, I'm cynical enough to suspect that a lot of humans are doing equally superficial language manipulation at least some of the time, and calling it "thought".
