@reece I’m a firm proponent in the thesis from @pluralistic that in a consumer society you can’t buy/not buy your way to change as an individual.
So I say, do the best thing for you economically (buy things that are well made and last) and use them to organize to change the system.
Let Apple sell you the hammer you use to smash the system that allows their shitty practices.

@McsaMatt @reece @pluralistic Buy second hand from early adopters. Buy only the models that are feasible to repair. Accept that every piece of hardware is already outdated when it hits shelves and adjust your expectations: Stay a generation or two behind and you’ll still get the work done for a reasonable price while reducing e-waste. Win-win.
