Anyone have any information about the bylaw that's the subject of this petition? Growing up in Tamaki Makau Rau with the restrictions on going into entire catchments in the Waitakere ranges, I was surprised by the open access here (and the paths and shrubbery across the face of the earth dam at Ross creek) Nowadays Watercare up there have obviously had to be less fussy, because there's no way they can dictate what happens in the Waikato catchment. Surely we already have some compromise in place of treating the silverstream water thoroughly enough to make it safe? Those tracks have been used recreationally by generations.
