Some truly impressive ongoing hole-digging from Blender here. "We try to make it clear it's just a donation" and "the origin of the donation is very much not appreciated indeed".
The press release: "Anthropic is an AI research and development company that creates reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Anthropic’s flagship product is Claude, a large language model trusted by millions of users worldwide."
The press release has nothing but glowing praise for this shitty company and its product built on stolen works of art (including an outright lie about reliability, lol).
If the "donation" didn't buy that endorsement and the article reflects the actual opinions of Blender's leadership... Francesco, buddy, that's worse.

It's sooo difficult to determine the ethics of taking money from Anthropic, almost as if maybe the consequences should have been carefully evaluated before accepting.
