Probably my favourite ending to a book was that of a monograph about web data analysis [1]. The final chapter had the author wondering, How do I wrap this up?; which was addressed by an analysis of text excerpts on Goodreads, showing that there was a preponderance of excerpts from early on in Kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow, and nearly none from near the end of the book. From analysis of this distribution, the author concluded that at most 6% of the initial readers would still be with him at this point (maybe 2%? A low number); so he was just going to stop and go outside now.
[1] which I cannot remember the title of but is presumably findable
