1) FlexLM continue to be a shitshow
2) Quantus Lite includes Questa Starter, but the latter needs a license file despite both being free in perpetuity
3) Quantus installation instructions do not say you have to go get a license for Questa.
4) The Altera license request form does not have instructions on how to look up the accepted hardware IDs.

5) Questa pops up a dialog box that says you have to point to the license file with SALT_LICENSE_SERVER rather than LM_LICENSE_FILE. You actually have to point to it with SALT_LICENSE_FILE, which is not stated in any official instructions. I had to find this on rando 3rd party YouTube videos, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6FvXga4f1A Did I mention that these are all free-of-cost versions? At least when you install Vitis it tells you what to do.
