@kyonshi I am going to add my voice to LMDE as well. Unless she needs to run something that is the absolute latest version of an application due to a new feature it has, LMDE is the better choice.
Debian can be slow moving to the latest version of applications, and LMDE inherits this due to its Debian base. It does get all the security updates, just slow on moving to new versions of applications with added/updated features.

@wgarmil @kyonshi I just want to add that you *can* use Flatpak for more recent versions of GUI applications if this suits to you. So you can use LMDE with it's default Apps, anything else will be installed as a FlatPak. Just as an option. I know opinions are divided on that topic.
