#podcast #newbiestartrek #StarTrek Listening the the podcast "Newbie Star Trek" (one of the first episode) and I hear say stuff like : "They make Quark to deepen the fereguies but he was an exception to the rule" and like... No? Quark is a very normal ferengui. That's the point. Quark is adaptable. He wants to keep doing business on DS9 so he has to adapt to the new population and authority on the station. So of course he ends up being relatively progressive, because his business depends on it. His brother and his nephew are way more changed by the contact with the federation than him, and this too pull him toward being... less horrible, shall we say?
