Today I encountered this Volvo Amazon (from the 50s) and the hero who converted it to electric WAY BACK IN THE 90s! After getting a new battery pack from a crashed EV and solar panels in recent years it has a range of 400km and charges a few 10s of km per day on sunny days. Basically an infinity car! So inspiring, I’m doing something like this some day! Imagine the future we could have had.. and maybe still can. #electricvehicles #solarpunk

@gustav Conversion kits should be seriously considered for most folks. Not everyone can afford the obese blobs the current auto industry is forcing down our throats, and not everyone wants constant government surveillance. >:(

@gustav lovely car, and being a Volvo, probably quite safe even to modern standards. Not sure if I can say the same for my #eT2 🤭 It’s a pity that apart from France, there are little to no incentives to convert ICE cars to EV. Even small things like low VAT on work done (like we had for installing solar panels) would be helpful, as the price of a conversion is largely driven by the work. Think of all the small cars driving max 100km being converted…
