Finished "By Night in Chile" by Roberto Bolano which was a breathless and disorienting read. 1. I feel that I am likely not be literarily mature enough to fully appreciate Bolano's works (having read this and Savage Detectives I am missing a LOT of stuff that I read in synopses after I'm done) 2. I don't know enough about Latin American history to fully appreciate Bolano's works 3. Having tried to read some of his poetic works and finding it impenetrable, I definitely don't understand the artist particularly well And yet there's something compelling about his writing (even translated), so I'm probably going to try to tackle the very large 2666 anyways #books #reading
