The one thing to watch about Subnautica 1 is it starts rather slow, and you're kinda struggling the whole time because you don't really know what you're doing. Finally at some point it clicks, Plot happens, and then it's a much more fun game. Try to get past that first bit - it's really worth it.

@TomF i never got past the first bit, but i still played a lot. they even have a dynamic landscape engine in there, you can blow holes in rocks etc, it surprised me. i played most of it in VR. VR glasses already feel like scuba gear so it fit perfectly.
