@riley It was self serving and aggrandizing in the manner of scientists pushing the boundaries and seeing themselves as performing miracles, but for a brief moment it was one of the only times we've ever had doctors viewing transition as something other than an act of pity and charity.

@siege The pioneering doctors saw it as solving a problem. The busibodies saw it as an opportunity to make problems, and endlessly create work for themselves. Some, like Blanchard, enjoyed the power of gate-keeping.
