Reading an old DTP book, and they touted the Windows 3.x macro recorder as one of the primary items why you would pick that version. I completely forgot that existed. IIRC, Microsoft has nothing like that included with modern versions. I mean, Autohotkey etc. are more powerful, but the same can be said about screenshot tools or text editors, and Windows is still including vestigial versions of those.

@mhd Well, I assume for most work-related stuff, the Office versions of the recorder still exist - for those who really don't want to delve into VBA code. But yeah, the Win 3.1 macro recorder. I have almost no recollection of it, though I certainly did try it out back then. Might actually be fun to fire ye olde first PC back up and try out that particular chestnut.
