i assume i'm not the only one who, upon getting a software update with a noticeably worse default experience, goes in to change the settings and then notices and turns off a bunch of other privacy-invasive or engagement-motivated features. i wonder if there's a term of art for this behavior

like, duolingo chess (yes i know it's mildly embarrassing) updated their sound effects so that moving every single piece made a sound, so i finally went in and turned off all sound effects (which had been annoying me but not enough previously to motivate active intervention)
