There are no pure socialist societies. There are no pure capitalist ones either. They are all blends. Intelligent participation adjusts the blend for the better. There is nothing more privileged than calling for revolution, to burn it all down. Because you know you will survive. Want people to vote? Stop telling them their vote doesn't matter.

(and beware f those that think that being a republic and a democracy are mutually exclusive)

The only way to build a government that is 'for the people' is to start at the bottom & ask the people. Build from the bottom up not the top down. Figure out what to call it after it's done. I lean toward a Democracy however the people define it.
