@paniash@mstdn.social Short answer: No. Long answer: The first version of Trisquel was based on Debian, and it contained non-free software. Main developers at that time met with Stallman when he came to their University to give a speech. Devs offered Trisquel CD for Stallman to sign. He refused and told them to make Trisquel only free software, only then he'd sign. Stallman also told, if they were going to make a distro, they should base it on most problematic and most popular distro, that is, Ubuntu. Next version of Trisquel contained only free software and since then have been based on Ubuntu. I recounted this old story because you'll see posts by many people asking why Trisquel is not based on Debian instead of Ubuntu. This is why.
