@andrewt you nerdsniped me on the question of "they can't be fortifying foods with ferromagnetic compounds, can they?" I assumed that bioavailable iron would be more similar to hemoglobin than iron shavings, but apparently I'm wrong:

@memnus yeah, I didn't think to look up what *kind* of iron it was, but I've definitely seen a video of someone smashing up cornflakes and extracting what looked basically like iron filings with a magnet
