But, seriously, they're good at lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4), like to the point they have or had a monopoly in making them. Those are not so good in terms of energy density, so they're not going to take over the smartphone market, but they're good for a bunch of uses including cars where that's not quite at such a premium.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @D-Droid There is a huge push right now for sodium and aluminum ion batteries. I'm pretty sure one or the other or both will be figured out relatively soon. I would also be very surprised if they will ever be made in china.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @D-Droid @soapone energy density is even more important in cars wdym? If your cell phone is 20% lighter that’s like 5 grams, if your 6000 pound car is 20% lighter that’s 1200 pounds
