Also, something I'd never thought about until we were hit with a #HeatDome in summer, 2021: because we're at a higher latitude than many in the world, folks don't realise that our summers have very little true darkness overnight. Relatively-long twilights at dusk and dawn, but little darkness (and of course, this is more extreme until one ends up with 24/7 daylight). The problem that arises then is that high daytime heat doesn't have time to dissipate overnight, and the heat builds and builds. I find this especially horrendous in neighbourhoods like mine where there are no shady boulevards covering the black asphalt, and the concrete sidewalks abut each side of the road, so it is a very wide space of heat absorption and radiation. 😱
